Absunset Removal Guide

What is Absunset?

Absunset is the infection that is indicated by poor performance and speed or CPU usage problems related to executable file

AbsunsetThe trojan infection appears as the absunset.exe process in the computer system.

Absunset is a Trojan horse[1] that enters the computer system via phishing email messages and starts its damaging activity right away. These types of malicious programs have a big variety of annoying and harmful features, starting from dubious redirects to unknown websites and ending with injecting other malware into the target system. Moreover, some users have reported that the virus has been especially aiming at infecting Acer computers and been showing up with each computer boot[2].

However, such activity is not innocent because you can end up with even more malware on the system. We advise you to keep on reading to learn more about this threat and why it is important to remove the threat from the system as soon as you detect absunset.exe or other components related to the trojan.

Avoiding trojans is obligatory

According to cybersecurity experts from Virusai.lt site[4], all users have to gain knowledge about trojan spreading techniques and distribution methods. This is crucial if you want to keep your computer safe and protected from possible damage. So, trojan horses often infiltrate the system by:

  • Spam messages;
  • Outdated software;

However, note that you have the ability to take some actions to avoid unwanted infiltration. First, make sure you do not open any dubious messages or their attachments. If you have received an email from a questionable sender, better eliminate it for good. Second, make sure you keep all your applications updated and working properly. Finally, avoid entering suspicious-looking websites and clicking on dubious links as they might easily contain malware-laden content.

Terminate the trojan with proper anti-malware tools

If you have spotted absunset.exe or other similar components that relate to the trojan infection, you need to remove the virus immediately. Make sure that you do not hesitate and take the elimination process seriously as the longer you keep this cyber threat in the system, the worse the consequences might be.

Moreover, we recommend downloading FortectIntego, SpyHunter 5Combo Cleaner, or Malwarebytes to detect all trojan-related components. After the process is finished, perform some system backups to make sure that the trojan horse was removed successfully and will not run again with the next boot.

How to prevent from getting trojans

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
