What is Search App by Ask v2?

Search App by Ask v2 (can also be found as Search App) is one of these applications that have been included to ‘potentially unwanted program’ category. No matter that this app is NOT A VIRUS, you should avoid it and related search engine. We say so because it may try to show up on your PC out of nowhere. In fact, there are two different methods that are used for promoting it. It can be downloaded to the system just like any other application or may show up on your computer without your approval. If that is the case, you should get rid of Search App. Otherwise, this program may initiate some system changes that may lead you to the appearance of a new start page or a default search engine. Once this program settles down on each of web browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), it may also show you ads in your search results. Why are they initiated? The answer is very simple – they seek to promote affiliate websites and increase their popularity. That’s why we don’t recommend keeping this app on the system. Please, get rid of it if it has appeared on your computer out of nowhere. The easiest way to do that is by uninstalling this app from the task manager and each of web browsers.

How can Search App by Ask v2 appear on my computer?

There are lots of techniques that are used for spreading Search App by Ask v2 and similar potentially unwanted programs. Some part of these methods are legitimate, some of them are doubtful. Beware that this application may infiltrate your computer unnoticed because it has been added to various free programs. Here, it is presented as ‘optional component’ that can be either installed or declined. Unfortunately, but this can be done only if you monitor installation of the freeware. For that we highly recommend selecting Custom or Advanced installation method while installing freeware on your computer. Of course, you should also double check the program before its installation by reading what is said in its Privacy Policy, End User’s License Agreement and other sources of information.
