Driver Talent is a paid Windows driver updater from OSToto Co., Ltd., not a virus; security programs flag it as a potentially unwanted program because its free scan leads to a paid upgrade. If you do not want it, uninstall it in Settings and check your card for any charge.

What Driver Talent is and what it is not
Driver Talent is a commercial driver updater for Windows, sold by OSToto Co., Ltd. It is not a virus. It is a program that several security products flag as a potentially unwanted application, and the reasons are about how it sells itself, not about a hidden payload.

A real program with a pushy sales model The vendor is a known company and the removal is simple. The risks are paying for something Windows already does, a billing or licence dispute, and copies downloaded from other sites. This is a document check on one day, not a test of the software, so nothing here clears it.
Why security programs flag it
The detection names say "unwanted program", "risk" or "deceptor". They do not say "trojan" for the vendor's own installer, apart from generic labels that fire on many harmless files.

If your security program flagged a Driver Talent file you downloaded from the vendor, it is almost certainly one of the first two kinds of label. If it flagged a file with the same name from another site, treat that as a different file until you know otherwise.

A Malwarebytes staff post on its forum lists Driver Talent among "system optimizers" that use intentional false positives to sell software and says its product can remove it as a potentially unwanted application.

A scan report we included listed the detections in the table above. The program window beside the vendor's page showed version 7.0.1.2 and a list headed "Congratulations! All drivers are perfect!" with game components such as OpenAL, PhysX and DirectX offered for install.

Reviewers complain about keys and charges
On Trustpilot, one reviewer wrote in August 2025 that a lifetime key kept asking to be re-entered after graphics-driver updates until activations ran out; another wrote in December 2025 that a lifetime licence stopped working and support did not answer; a third wrote in February 2026 about a monthly $9.95 charge. We could not verify any of these, and 7 reviews in all is a very small sample.

What the vendor page shows today
The Pro page lists 1 PC for 1 month at $10.98, 1 PC for 1 year at $19.95 (crossed-out $29.95) and 1 PC lifetime at $39.98 (crossed-out $99.95), and offers a 30-day refund under one stated condition.
What can go wrong, from most to least serious

A cracked or look-alike installer
A file from a torrent or "free key" page can carry a loader, a stealer or ransomware. If the installer did not come from the vendor and the PC behaves oddly, scan it offline before you do anything else.

A wrong or unneeded driver
Installing the newest driver for every device can break something that worked. Windows says optional drivers are not installed automatically; and when it finds nothing, the hardware maker's site is the next place to look. The program does make a restore point first by default, according to the vendor.

A lifetime key costs money, and reviewers describe re-activation and support problems. Windows Update and the manufacturer's site are free.

A list of "outdated" drivers is not a list of faults. Most machines run well on the drivers they have. We did not run its scan, so we cannot say how accurate it is.

Let Windows Update do it
Windows 11 installs recommended drivers by itself and lets you add optional driver updates yourself. In Windows 11 look under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates; in Windows 10 choose View optional updates in Windows Update. The wording differs between builds.

If Windows finds nothing
Microsoft's own advice is to check the hardware maker's website for a driver that fits your version of Windows.

Graphics-card makers publish their own driver packages; take them from the maker's page. Most office or browsing computers do not need the newest graphics driver.

Find the order e-mail
The vendor says it e-mails the licence key and the order details after payment. Search your inbox for the order and note which company issued it.

Compare with your card statement
The page's checkout statement names Digital River MyCommerce, while the Buy buttons we followed point to Stripe payment links. Check the merchant name on your statement so you know whom to contact.

How it ends up on computers
The vendor's own site is the main source. The problem is the copies, not the original: torrent pages, "free download" mirrors and pop-up update messages carry the same name and may carry something else.

Whichever route it came by, the advice is the same: use the vendor's own address, and treat a "Pro" file from anywhere else as a different program.
How to uninstall Driver Talent
How to remove Driver Talent
Uninstall it, then remove what keeps it starting with Windows.
Nothing it flagged needs fixing.
Step 1: Uninstall Driver Talent
Driver Talent is removed like any other program, from the list of installed apps. In Windows 11 that is Settings > Apps > Installed apps, in Windows 10 Settings > Apps > Apps & features, and in both you can also use Control Panel > Programs and Features.
Select Driver Talent, click Uninstall and follow the uninstaller to the end. Then look at the entries just above and below it when the list is sorted by date: bundled programs install at the same minute.

Step 2: Remove it from startup
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and select Startup apps (Windows 11) or the Startup tab (Windows 10). Disable entries you do not recognise, especially ones with no publisher or with a name that copies a Windows component.
Right-click an entry and choose Open file location to see where it runs from: programs in

Step 3: Delete the folders left behind
Uninstalling often leaves the program's folders, and some threats reinstall themselves from them.
Press Windows + R, type
%LocalAppData%and press Enter, then do the same for%AppData%and %ProgramData%, and look for folders named after Driver Talent, its publisher or created on the day the problem started.Delete those folders, and check

Step 4: Scan the PC, then run the offline scan
A scan finds the parts of Driver Talent that the manual steps cannot see. In Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options, start a Full scan and quarantine what it reports.
Follow it with Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan) > Scan now, which restarts the PC and checks the disk while Windows and the malware are not running.
It takes about 15 minutes and works the same in Windows 11 and Windows 10. If either scan finds something, run the full scan again after removal until it comes back clean.

Uninstalling Driver Talent in detail
The vendor's FAQ gives two ways to remove it: its own uninstaller in the installation folder, or Windows' list of programs. Uninstalling does not stop a payment you may have set up, so check that separately (see the cost section).

Quit the program
Right-click the Driver Talent icon near the clock and choose Exit, or close it in Task Manager.

Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, search for Driver Talent, click the three dots and choose Uninstall. Confirm, and follow the uninstaller.

Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features, select Driver Talent, click Uninstall and follow the steps. The vendor's FAQ describes the older Control Panel route, Programs > Uninstall a program, which leads to the same list.

If the entry is missing, right-click the Driver Talent shortcut, choose Open file location and run the file named Uninstall (file description "Driver Talent Uninstaller").

Check what is left
Delete the installer you downloaded, then open Startup apps in Task Manager and look for leftovers. Removing the program does not remove the drivers it installed or the restore points it made. Those stay on the computer.
If the program will not uninstall, comes back, or the copy did not come from the vendor, run the Microsoft Defender offline scan from the plan above: Run a Microsoft Defender Offline scan. A scan from a security program you already trust is also fine; you do not need to buy a new one for this.
After removal and prevention
Do
- Download programs only from the maker's own site and compare the address letter by letter.
- Read the privacy policy, the licence terms (EULA) and the refund terms before you pay.
- Choose Custom or Advanced setup in an installer so you can untick extra offers.
- Check the merchant name and the renewal terms at checkout and note the date.
- Keep a current backup (File History or OneDrive) so a bad driver or cleanup does not cost you your documents.
- On public Wi-Fi a VPN hides your IP address; it does not stop malware.
Don't
- Install a tool because a web page or a pop-up says your drivers are out of date.
- Search for a free Pro key or a crack.
- Install every driver a scan lists without reading what it replaces.
- Run a program that you cannot trace to a maker.
Questions about Driver Talent
Is Driver Talent a virus?
No. Driver Talent is a commercial driver updater made by OSToto Co., Ltd., and the pages and registry records we read gave us no reason to call the program itself malware.
The word "virus" sticks to it because several security products label it as a potentially unwanted program, because its free scan leads to a paid upgrade, and because some buyers complain about licences and charges.
A copy from a torrent or a "free key" page is different and can be a real infection. We did not install the program, so this describes its records and reviews, not a test of its behaviour.
Is Driver Talent safe to use?
It is reasonably safe if it came from the vendor's own site, but you may not need it. The vendor says it shows no ads or pop-ups and makes a restore point before it installs a driver.
The risks we can name are installing a driver you did not need, paying for a licence that later gives trouble, and downloading it from somewhere else.
Windows Update and your hardware maker's site give you the same drivers free. Our check was a document read on 6 October 2026, one day, with the program not installed, so it does not clear the program of anything.
Why does my antivirus say Driver Talent is dangerous?
Your security program probably sees it as an unwanted program, not as a trojan. In our 2019 multi-scanner report, Malwarebytes called it PUP.Optional.DriveTheLife, ESET Win32/UwS.DriverTalent.A and Sophos Driver Talent (PUA), while others used generic names such as Win32:Malware-gen.
Malwarebytes staff said in 2018 that driver updaters like this one often use intentional false positives to sell software. If the flagged file did not come from the vendor, delete it and scan offline. If it did, uninstall it if you do not want it, since the label is about its sales method.
Is Driver Talent free?
The scan and download are free, but most of the useful functions are in Pro. The vendor's comparison table lists one-click install, automatic backup before changes, restoring drivers, and remote support as Pro items.
On 6 October 2026 its page showed Pro for 1 PC at $10.98 for a month, $19.95 for a year and $39.98 for lifetime, each with a struck-through higher price. Our 2019 report had a $5.99 trial and a $19.95 to $26.95 Pro. These are the vendor's prices on one day, and we did not buy a licence.
How do I uninstall Driver Talent?
Quit it from the notification area, then remove it in Settings. In Windows 11 open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, click the three dots next to Driver Talent and choose Uninstall. In Windows 10 use Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
The vendor's FAQ also describes its own uninstaller in the installation folder and the Control Panel route. Remove Driver Talent for Network Card too if you installed it. Uninstalling does not remove the drivers it installed and does not cancel any payment, so check your order e-mail and card statement.
How do I get a refund for Driver Talent?
Write to the vendor first and keep the reply. The vendor's page promises a 30-day money-back guarantee, but it words it narrowly: a refund if the program marked your hardware as having a driver available and then could not supply one.
Use the e-mail address on its Trustpilot profile, support@drivethelife.com, and quote your order number. Check the merchant name on your card statement, because the page names one payment company while its Buy buttons point to another. If there is no answer and the charge was not agreed, contact your card issuer.
Will uninstalling Driver Talent break my drivers?
No, removing the program leaves the drivers it installed in place. Driver Talent is a manager, not part of the drivers themselves, so Windows keeps using whatever is installed. The vendor says it makes a restore point before it installs or updates a driver, and those restore points also stay.
If a driver it installed causes trouble, restore the system to an earlier point or roll back that one driver in Device Manager. If you are unsure which driver changed, open Windows Update's update history and compare the dates.
Do I need a driver updater at all?
Usually not. Windows 11 installs recommended drivers by itself and lets you install optional driver updates yourself, and Microsoft advises checking the hardware maker's website when Windows Update finds nothing.
A driver updater helps in two cases: a fresh Windows install with no network driver, which is what the vendor's Driver Talent for Network Card is built for, or a gaming computer where you want a new graphics driver. For both, the maker's own download page is free. Most computers run well for years on the drivers they already have.
What is the difference between Driver Talent, DriveTheLife and OSToto?
They are the same product and company under different names. DriveTheLife is the program's earlier name and still the vendor's main web address, drivethelife.com. OSToto Co., Ltd. is the company that the vendor's own profile names as the operator, and it has registered ostoto.com and drivertalent.com as well.
Our old guide named Shenzhen DriveTheLife Software Technology Co. Ltd., which we could not confirm today. Driver Talent for Network Card is a second program from the same vendor, and the same licence code activates both on one machine, according to the vendor's buy page.
Will Fortect remove Driver Talent?

Run Microsoft Defender's full scan and, if anything was found, its offline scan as a second opinion. If the symptoms are gone after the plan and both scans are clean, there is nothing more to do.
