Instead, they start getting spammed with annoying pop-up ads that appear in the corner of the screen, sometimes even when the browser is closed.

MS Edge (Chromium):

1. Open Microsoft Edge, and go to Settings.
2. Select Site permissions.

Internet Explorer:

1. Open Internet Explorer, and click on the Gear icon at the top-right on the window.

2. In Control Panel, select Programs > Uninstall a program.
