Onepagesnews.net redirects diminish browsing experience and might end up with malware attack

The image of Onepagesnews.net virus

Onepagesnews.net is a domain widely used by adware[1] program. It redirects to various sponsored or promotional websites and might display tons of ads on each website you visit. What is more, this potentially unwanted program (PUP) might alter browser’s settings.

The Onepagesnews.net adware aims at the most popular web browsers on computers with Windows operating system. Attacks to Mac OS X are not reported yet. The PUP hijacks browsers when a user carelessly installs free program. Since then browsing-related problems begin.

Onepagesnews.net redirect problem is the main issue users report about. The adware might interfere browsing sessions by opening a new tab and forcing users to visit a promotional website. Developers generate revenue by boosting traffic to these sites. However, you might end up on potentially dangerous or infected Internet sites.

Onepagesnews.net ads have the similar problem. They might be aggressive and misleading. Typically ad-supported programs collect browsing-related data about users and use it to create interest-based ads. However, if you click on such offer, you might appear on irrelevant or phishing[2] site.

Undoubtedly, these problems should not be overlooked. You should remove Onepagesnews.net as soon as you notice signs of the attack. All adware programs behave similarly, but you can detect this particular PUP from these features:

  • redirects to onepagesnews.net/poszq;
  • changed homepage to onepagesnews.net/news;
  • default search engine set to onepagesnews.net/news/weather/108126.

It seems that malware mostly aims at Russian-speaking[3] computer users. However, it does not mean that non-russian speakers cannot encounter this cyber threat. In case of the attack, obtain Reimage or another anti-malware and perform Onepagesnews.net removal.

Occasions of the hijack

Adware takes advantage of bad users habits and sneaks inside the computer during installation of freeware or shareware. It is added as an optional component and hidden under Quick/Standard settings. Thus, if you rely on them, you may agree to install numerous PUPs to the device.

You can stop PUPs by opting for Advanced/Custom settings and monitoring the process. Once you see the list of “optional downloads” reject the installation by unmarking pre-selected entries.

You should get rid of Onepagesnews.net virus immediately

There are two ways how you can remove Onepagesnews.net and its annoying redirects. At the end of the article, you can find manual elimination instructions that will help to find and delete hijacker-related entries from the PC.

However, the second option is quicker and simpler. It requires obtaining anti-malware/anti-spyware and scanning the infected device with it. The security tool will complete Onepagesnews.net removal for you.

You can remove Onepagesnews.net automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareWebroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus, Malwarebytes Anti Malware. We recommend these applications because they can easily delete potentially unwanted programs and viruses with all their files and registry entries that are related to them.
