Remove Vonteera adware

removal by Ugnius Kiguolis - - | Type: Adware

Vonteera is a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Security experts are still debating and cannot decide whether it should be classified as ‘adware’ or ‘browser hijacker.’ It belongs to PUP category because it travels in one pack with freewares/sharewares. Also, it has been caught displaying sponsored advertisements, as well as modifying DNS settings on all web browsers without asking for user’s permission. In a nutshell, the installation of Vonteera virus may cause some annoying system changes that can later cause some serious computer-related issues.

What classification of Vonteera PUP would be correct?

Vonteera is a free browser add-on developed by Volaro Technologies. It is a cross-browser platform, what means that it can land on each web browser, including Chrome, Safari, IE, and Mozilla Firefox. Once installed, it starts providing people with the information as the best deals, discounts, coupons, promo codes, and so on. Vonteera can be shown on random pages that you usually visit. The forms those ads appear may vary from pop-ups to full-page ads. If you are seeing such advertisements right now, avoid contact with them because they may be linked to questionable or even infected web pages. Thus, due to such unfair marketing techniques, this add-on is more likely to be adware.

Vonteera adware replaces a default homepage and displays tons of ads

According to the malware specialists, Vonteera adware is targeting at Arab countries. Such conclusion has been come up when the relationship of this adware and search engine has been noticed. In fact, as soon as Vonteera redirect virus settles down on a target computer, a default start page and search provider each web browser will be replaced by virus without asking for the permission directly. This search engine is NOT reliable because it may exhibit altered search results that lead to the pages of affiliates. The problem here is the same – clicking on the links pose a risk of Vonteera redirects. Thus, it may also be classified as a browser hijacker.

Questions about Vonteera adware

Another downside that this adware (partially hijacker) feature is the unauthorized usage of tracking cookies. One installed, Vonteera virus activates tracking cookies and starts spying on its users. Thus, keeping it may end up with the leakage of personally and non-personally identifiable information about you. We believe that these facts are more than enough to convince you to remove Vonteera malware right away using ReimageIntego or an alternative anti-malware.

How can I get infected with Vonteera adware?

Vonteera can be promoted using several techniques:

  • It may be bundled with third-party software (free). Therefore, when you decide to install any freeware, regardless of how reliable it seems, bypass Quick or Express installation. Instead of it, select Advanced or Custom installation option and carefully check if it has additional components or not. If you find a sentence on a check box claiming that you don’t mind installing Vonteera plug-in or another unfamiliar add-on, toolbar, extension, etc., make sure that you opt out of it without any consideration.
  • It may be disguised under legitimate software updates prompts, such as Java, Flash Player, Media Player, web browse, etc. Such popular software is commonly misused by cyber frauds and exploited for the distribution of potentially unwanted programs.
  • Lastly, you may install Vonteera PUP from the misleading official page. It seems that at the moment of writing this app does not have the official page, but it can be released at any time.

If you have already been infected, delete Vonteera right away. The guide that explains how to do that is given in the page2.

How can I perform the removal of this tool?

To make it easier for you to perform Vonteera removal, our security experts have submitted a step-by-step removal guide. It is given at the end of the post. However, our recommendation would be to perform a full system check with anti-malware to remove all unwanted programs.

Access your website securely from any location

When you work on the domain, site, blog, or different project that requires constant management, content creation, or coding, you may need to connect to the server and content management service more often. The best solution for creating a tighter network could be a dedicated/fixed IP address.

If you make your IP address static and set to your device, you can connect to the CMS from any location and do not create any additional issues for the server or network manager that needs to monitor connections and activities. VPN software providers like Private Internet Access can help you with such settings and offer the option to control the online reputation and manage projects easily from any part of the world.

Recover files after data-affecting malware attacks

While much of the data can be accidentally deleted due to various reasons, malware is one of the main culprits that can cause loss of pictures, documents, videos, and other important files. More serious malware infections lead to significant data loss when your documents, system files, and images get encrypted. In particular, ransomware is is a type of malware that focuses on such functions, so your files become useless without an ability to access them.

Even though there is little to no possibility to recover after file-locking threats, some applications have features for data recovery in the system. In some cases, Data Recovery Pro can also help to recover at least some portion of your data after data-locking virus infection or general cyber infection.
