What is sp.dll? Should I remove it?
sp.dll is a library file that is responsible for implementing main parasite functions and running its destructive payload. The sp.dll file cannot run by itself and therefore needs to be loaded with the help of some executable files. However, certain parasites reconfigures the operating system or installs sp.dll as a plugin, so that the system or certain applications automatically load it on startup.
The sp.dll file is installed and used by adware Clearsearch. It is also related to other parasites such as adware TinyBar and browser hijacker iGetNet. These threats can use sp.dll for different purposes, as the file’s functionality depends on a particular parasite it belongs to.
Sometimes a presence of sp.dll does not indicate that your computer is infected. It can be an essential system file or a file installed by harmless legitimate software and therefore may not pose any threat to your privacy and the system. Although such cases are quite rare, you should thoroughly examine sp.dll before completely deleting or leaving it in the system.
